Ans.: as per ACGIH new recommendation for an eight-hour time weighted average (TWA) exposure limit concentration of 1PPM and the 5ppm short-term exposure limit (STEL).

What are the inspection you have to on crane during visual inspection?

Ans.: Outrigger, ASLI (Automatic Safe Load indicator –to warn crane being over loaded), ATB Device (Anti Two block device) - it is an electro sensing device to prevent the contact of boom sheave assembly point and hook assembly.

LMI (Load Moment indicator) – it shows load limit, radius limit, top height limit, wind limits, Safety Latch, Anemo meter and hydraulic leakages.

How you know that crane can lift this much of tones in this radius? What are the key documents for lifting permit?

Ans.: a. By checking Load chart

b. RA, MS, Lifting plan, load test certificates of equipment, gears, competency certificate of employees, zone 2 certificate of crane etc. 

 

 ELIMINATION OF WORKPLACE HAZARDS

 

What are the precautions for Hydro testing?

Ans.: Don’t forget to tell this first.

All fittings, joints, flanges, blinds & hoses shall be rated.

All the Gauges shall be calibrated and certified.

Pressure safety Valve shall be installed in test line to prevent the test pressure being exceeded.

Whip arrestor shall be provided for all joins.

All gauges shall be installed in a safe distance from equipment and should be visible to operator.

What are the Terminology for the scaffolding as per BS 1139?

Ans.: Bay length (Distance of two standards), Kicker lift, Standard, Ledger, Bracings, Outriggers, toe
