Ø Take a Cold Work Permit from Asset Owner.

Defective Tool & Equipment
|
Ø Ensure test bottle (containing H2S Gas of 10 ppm concentration) & accessories are free from defect & not leaking.
Ø Refer manufacturer instruction for refilling of test gas bottle.

Unintended Shutdown of Facility / Equipment
|
Ø Assess the risk & Override the H2S detector to be function tested.
Ø Do not remove override prior to resetting the alarm in the panel.

Lack of Communication
|
Ø Maintain a radio communication between worker at Gas Detector site and the person stationed near F & G panel / Control Room.

Functional Testing

Wrong Identity of Gas Detector
|
Ø Ensure the identity of detector before charging the gas into it.

Excessive Charging of H2S to Detector
|
Ø Apply only the required amount of gas as needed to actuate the detector sensor.
Ø Refer manufactures instruction for functional testing & calibration of detector.

Toxic Gas Leak

Ø Keep the Test Bottle valve closed when not in use.

Fire & Explosion
|
Ø Do not bring any naked flame or spark generating equipment near the test gas bottle.
Ø Do not dismantle or puncture the test gas bottle even if empty.

Fault Alarm

Ø Confirm the alarm on gas charging through radio communication.

Unsafe Storage / Disposal of Test Bottle
|
Ø Keep the test bottle in safe and secured location.
Ø Do not dispose the empty bottle unsafely.
Ø Refer manufacturer instruction for safe disposal / transportation of empty bottle.
