Highly Hazardous Chemicals in 1992.
The Purpose of PSM
The purpose of the PSM standard is to help Employer and its
Employees ( including contract
workers) in their efforts to prevent or mitigate release of
highly hazardous chemicals which have
high potential consequences causing:
Fire, explosion, and toxic effects.
Significant environmental damage.
Multiple injuries and deaths.
Significant business interruption.
Damage to reputation.
