Department: Environment Health & Safety
Reports To: Senior Director - Operations
Location: Andheri, Mumbai
Position Summary:
• Lead the Health, Safety & Environment (EH&S) & property / fire risk management programs
• Advise & assist the management team in the fulfilment of its obligations, statutory or otherwise, prevention of personal injuries & maintaining a safe working environment in factory, offices & reduction of property/fire risk.
Qualification Requirement:
• Diploma or Degree in Engineering (Environmental / Mechanical / Electrical) OR Graduate in (Physics or Chemistry) with Government recognized PD Diploma in Industrial Safety / PDIS / ADIS?
Work Experience Requirement:
• 10+ years of Experience in handling Environment Health & Safety work in MNC environment with strong safety metrics (MNC experience is mandatory)
• Must have led ISO:18001 (OHSAS) certification
• Must have led or been a core team member in ISO:14001 (EMS) certification
• Knowledge of all Statutory & Regulatory requirements for a manufacturing facility
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
• Ensure safe work environment & comply with applicable Statutory & Regulatory Requirements ( Factories Act / Rules, Environment Acts / Rules, MPCB Compliances, ISO 14000 / 18000) & other government / company driven initiatives
• Comply with ISO14000 & 18000 requirements & lead cross-functional teams to put a system in place & create framework to maintain the standards
• Conduct site safety inspections & job hazard analysis & identify & drive initiatives required to improve site safety performance & remove the unsafe physical conditions & actions / practices by workers
• Setup & lead safety committee
• Formulate onsite emergency preparedness plan with identified emergency situations & conduct emergency mock drills
• Prepare, review, & update environmental investigation & recommendation reports
• Report & investigate accidents & near-miss incidents & do CAPA (Corrective Action & Preventive Action) for the same
• Maintain necessary records relating to accidents, & dangerous occurrences
• Monitor various safety work permits issued & ensure safety regulations
• Monitor safety performance & report EHS metrics & MIS
• Ensure compliance with Danaher EHS policies & coordinate for transfer of best practices
• Coordinate with EH &S specialists to identify & transfer best practices for continuous improvement.
• Design & conduct suitable EH&S trainings for safety awareness across the plant
• Handle audits by Risk Insuring agencies & track & close the issues raised during audits
Functional Competencies:
• Knowledge of Proactive Safety Measures & implementation of preventive safety
• Experience in handling EH&S awareness & implementation in manufacturing industry
• Hands-on experience in Hazard Identification & Risk Assessment (HIRA) & Corrective Action & Preventive Action (CAPA)
• Experience in handling various audits & completing action plans for improvements
• Knowledge of applicable laws related to EH&S & related compliances
• Liaison with Statutory Authorities & complying with procedures / documentation related to various compliances w.r.t. EH&S
• Experience in conducting trainings & awareness programs
